The following information refers only to users of the previous version 2.1.
A scaling error has sneaked its way into version 2.1. It is fixed in the current version 2.2, but some of your version 2.1 models might still be affected. In the cases outlined below, this error caused distances to be off exactly by a factor of 1.50 and/or distorted models.
Which models are affected:
• MW-Text and Coordinates files imported in version 2.1. PDB-imports are not affected.
• Version 2.0 MW-files and below, when opened and saved in version 2.1.
• All other files are completely correct.
How can I check for this error?
• Measure a C-C bond distance with the "Geometrical Info" command from the "Selection" menu. If it is about 2 Angstroms, then your file is affected and should be re-imported.
How to fix affected models:
• Simply re-import your models from their original text source (MW-Text or Coordinates). This automatically applies the correct scaling.
• Don't forget to replace all demo and slide show files by the ones delivered with this version (they contain the same models, but are of course corrected for the right scaling).
